Pope visits Africa, reaffirms ban on condoms- Seriously?

I cannot believe what I read sometimes but then again nothing should surprise me anymore. Let me give you the highlights of this article...

Pope Benedict XVI refuses to soften the Vatican's ban on condom use: Seriously? This coming from a man who has never had sex, never had to deal with the threat of children and not only that but your saying this in a country that is so riddled with AIDS and HIV. Its almost like saying by all means please spread the disease and lets hope you all die.

The Catholic Church has long been on the front line of HIV care, he said, adding that it is probably the largest private provider of HIV care in the world.- Of course they are! If you are going to tell people dont use condoms as it could possibly help stop or slow the spread of AIDS or HIV you better provide something for them for it!

More than 22 million people in sub-Saharan Africa are infected with HIV, according to a 2008 UNAIDS/WHO report. Nine out of 10 children with HIV in the world live in the region, which has 11.4 million orphans because of AIDS, the report said, and 1.5 million people there died of the disease in 2007 - Wow! Why would you listen to the pope? I certainly wouldnt...I dont care who he is. Get with the times Mr. Pope and realize that your 1rst Century ideas dont bode well for your followers.

Knowing! Movie Review

Wow! Nicolas Cage does not disappoint! This movie is an action packed 2 1/2 hour thriller and end of the world adventure. I find it hard to sit in the theatre for that long watching a movie without looking at my watch and squirming the whole time (I did that in Watchmen! HORRIBLE MOVIE!!) but I just breezed right through this.

I wont give out any spoilers except to say the only disappointment on this movie was the last ten seconds. Essentially for all that dont know this is about something or someone apparently being after Nicolas Cage's son and whispering all the tragedy's that have befallen and are about to befall our world. I am an avid disaster movie fan and I must say I was impressed!

So go see it, dont take the kids cause it can be scary for anyone under 10. I say this simply because the children crying during the movie, didnt realize it was a kids movie, I certainly wouldnt let my 9 year old see it! Have a date night or just go see it on your own...its worth it!

I Love you man! Movie Review

Peter Klaven is a successful real estate agent who, upon getting engaged to the woman of his dreams, Zooey, discovers, to his dismay and chagrin, that he has no male friend close enough to serve as his Best Man. Peter immediately sets out to rectify the situation, embarking on a series of bizarre and awkward "man-dates," before meeting Sydney Fife, a charming, opinionated man with whom he instantly bonds. But the closer the two men get, the more Peter's relationship with Zooey suffers, ultimately forcing him to choose between his fiancee and his new found "bro," in a story that comically explores what it truly means to be a "friend."

This movie was a blast! Definitely not for a kid but it kept me lauging. I love Jason Segal and Paul Rudd so there is nothing better! I give this movie a 4 out of 5 stars!

Hatred is not tolerated here!

I can’t believe the pure hatred right here in Oklahoma!

I must say I have never been so astonished by the unabashed hatred I see coming from my fellow Oklahomans. I am a democrat, a free thinker, a flaming liberal and a lover of all people…..gay, straight, red, white and yellow.

This states policiticians seem to be the most reverent haters in the area. Between the Sally Kern’s of the world with their hate spewed speeches which preach all people are not equal and gays are trying to take over the world as the superior lifestyle to the closet policiticians that secretly stay behind the scenes and pass laws and change policies that take away people’s basic rights….where is this world coming to?

Everyone who lives in this state is aware that Sally Kern’s son is gay! He lives a gay lifestyle but yet according to his mom he is not and is celibate. How can a person continue to have a productive life and know who he is when his mother openly hates the life he chooses and hates people of that lifestyle?

Per Sally Kern
"I did talk about what I believe...scientific evidence, health evidence...proves that the homosexual lifestyle is a dangerous lifestyle. And, yes, I did compare it to being more dangerous than terrorism. And my point in doing that, gentlemen, was this: Everybody knows terrorism destroys and tears down, and that was the only analogy I was making is that the homosexual agenda, this lifestyle which is so destructive to individuals, is at the heart trying to tear down what is the bedrock foundation of our society, which is the family and traditional marriage."

Would you want this person to be your mother??? HELL NO

We have business owners unwilling to open their business’s to gays because they dislike their lifestyle. State representatives openly bashing gays, STATE REPRESENTATIVES---they need to speak for all people not half the majority. Now we have the John Birch Society and their thoughts about the fact that gays are communist and trying to push their agenda on everyone and take over the world?

I honestly don’t care who disagrees with me, when I read the article in the Oklahoma Gazette that came out this week I was sickened past the point of no return. I have heard enough about gay and lesbian rights….This simple fact of the matter is if they had the same rights are we did there would be no discussion and it would not be up to debate.

There is supposed to be a separation of church and state, I see no separation here. There should be no legislation and no laws governing against homosexuals. This is a clear violation of a person’s basic rights to me. I am officially sickened to live in a state in which it has clearly reverted back to the days where blacks are not free and are slaves to whites only this time we have made it gays and lesbians in their place.

I have never taken a stand in this area before or been vocal about the plight of homosexuals being a straight person myself, however with knowing several of my friends struggles and seeing how openly their rights are violated I will stand up for their rights and their freedom by going to demonstrations and speaking out against the injustice and blunt hatred that seems to be going on around me!

Review for Bedtime Stories w/ Adam Sandler

So the basic plot is about a hotel handyman (Sandler) whose life changes when the lavish bedtime stories he tells his niece and nephew start to magically come true.

If you have seen an Adam Sandler movie it has all the usual suspects. My biggest surprise of the movie was Russell Brand who is possibly by my opinion one of the best british comics besides Izzard. In my opinion the gerbil Bugsy made the movie...suppose all movies have to turn to cute little fuzzy animals to get the laughs!...hammy, the hamster in bolt and now Bugsy.

Great kids movie for the holidays...cute kids movie period. I'm guessing he made this for his kids and that reason alone. Or perhaps because the regular actors in all his movies are not getting work elsewhere...either way if you liked Click then you will like this. B

Review for Seven Pounds w/ Will Smith

So essentially Will Smith plays an IRS agent who tries to redeem an unforgivable mistake he made in the past by helping seven people. We know neither the mistake nor the reason these particular people are chosen, but his plan changes when he falls for an ailing woman.

At the beginning it gives the plot but not how he got to that decision. In the middle of the movie you realize what seven pounds means, this movie is slow beginning, slow going and slow ending. He lost alot of weight for this movie as to appear he hasnt taken care of himself. He has a strange almost constipated look on his face the entire movie and they only mildly go into one of the other people's stories and neglect the rest of them.

It was a bad way around what apparently is considered a love story. I'm not saying its a bad movie I am saying I would wait till its out at Redbox!

One interesting fact however is the fact that Tom Cruise's son Conner plays the small part of Smith as a young child.

I give this movie a B-

Review for The Day the Earth Stood Still

Umm what to say about this movie? I would say it was two hours worth of disappointment and I am glad I got a sneak preview pass. Keanu Reeves was of course the lead actor for this movie. I love Keanu but he is typecast in movies for a reason. Im not sure whether he should curse the matrix or not but his souless blank stare never goes away and his character can be closely referred to as a spinoff from Neo in the Matrix.

Whether it be a chick flick or a sci fi movie his expression never changes and his acting skills stay the same. I do like Keanu but this movie was a big disappointment. It was more a message movie than anything, we are all killing the earth and we will exterminate you, much like The Happening. Plants are killing us because we are killing them. The environment is important and I agree that we are way to greedy and our greed is catching up with us but big blockbuster? I think not! I give it a C-

Let me however say that the previews were better than the movie! If you want to see the Wolverine preview this is apparently the only movie you will see it in till Feb of next yr! Super stoked about that one!
